Relationships offer the possibility of happiness, growth, and even positive physical health benefits. Unfortunately, they also are hard work, and can be a source of intense pain, stagnation, and negative health outcomes. Learning to work together to manage the challenges inherent in all relationships requires a set of skills that often we lack or need to improve.

Relationship therapy focuses on increasing positive interactions, minimizing negative interactions, and improving communication/problem solving abilities. Therapy attempts to increase the couples' mindful engagement of problems and each other, keeping values and goals in mind, while in the midst of distressing emotions. Therapy attempts to bring the couple together working toward common goals in an encouraging, positive environment.
